Blood tests and health assessments in Verona
ContactsThe Gallieno Srl Clinical Analysis Laboratory in Verona performs all blood tests required by the National Health Service (SSR). While not strictly necessary for all blood tests, we recommend fasting for at least eight hours before the blood draw. Refrain from any beverages (tea, coffee), while water is permitted and recommended.
In the hours before the blood test, avoid intense physical activity and stressful situations.

Do not drink alcohol in the 12 hours beforehand, do not smoke, and do not change your eating habits the day before the blood test (do not force yourself to fast for longer than necessary).
Pregnancy test using blood analysis
The plasma BETA-HCG pregnancy test is performed on a blood sample. This blood test is used to determine the state of pregnancy and/or the progress of the pregnancy. A sample is taken without fasting. Results are available the same day.
Postprandial blood glucose (by appointment)
Glycemic absorption analysis. For the three days prior to the test, the patient must follow a high-carbohydrate diet. On the day of the blood test, we recommend eating at least 100 grams of carbohydrates for lunch. The blood sample must be taken exactly two hours after finishing a meal.
Prothrombin time (PT-INR)
Patients undergoing this type of blood test do not need to fast strictly, but may limit themselves to a light breakfast. The report will be available the same day as the blood draw, starting at 1:00 PM. Blood draws are not performed on Saturdays unless urgently requested.
Glycosylated hemoglobin
The blood test is not recommended after taking alcohol or antibiotics, which can cause false increases.
Prolactin
Blood sampling should be performed in the morning, after an hour of rest. Alternatively, three samples can be taken, spaced half an hour apart, while keeping the subject at rest.
Renin-Angiotensin Aldosterone (ortho/cline)
For these blood tests, you must fast for at least 10-12 hours. The first blood sample (clinal) is taken at home in the morning before waking up (home blood samples are subject to a fee). The second blood sample (ortho) is taken at the laboratory or the most convenient blood sampling point, after a 15-minute walk in a standing position. In the three days prior to the test, it is essential to consume light, salt-free meals.
Pharmacological monitoring (consultation with your doctor)
Blood tests may be ordered to monitor medications and their components, such as: phenobarbital, carbamazepine, digoxin, phenytoin, theophylline, valproic acid, lithium, and Keppra.
